Introduction to Talend Open Studio
Talend Open studio for Data Integration is one of the open source ETL tools offered by Talend.
In this post, I will be covering the pre-requisites that are required to start learning the fundamental concepts of Talend Data Integrator and also how to install the necessary software to continue with exercises.As Oracle 12c Database is used as source system or target system in the upcoming handson sessions, I have also covered the installation and configuration of this as well.
Basic SQL concepts are required to understand Data Integration. Also, an oracle account is needed to install the required oracle software.
I have listed below the pre-requisite software that are used in the demos to explain the concepts on Windows 64 bit machine. So all the installation that I will mention below refers to only to this configuration.
Pre-requisite Software Installation
1.Java Run time Environment
This can be downloaded from Oracle. Download the below file, extract the content, and run the setup file. If you already have the Java run time Environment, then you can ignore this step.
2.Oracle 12c Database
3.Oracle SQL Developer
Oracle SQL Developer can be installed from here.Extract the file and run the setup file.
4.Talend Data Integrator
Go to the link here,check the Free Products and download the Open studio for Data Integration.
Extract the file and click on the set up file and install the tool. There is no need to login to the Talend website also.
This completes the installations of all the software required to learn the Talend Data Integrator.

Post Installation – Configuration of Training DB in Oracle 12c Database:
We need to set up the connections for Container and Pluggable Databases as shown below.
Login to SQL developer , and create a database that can be used for learning Talend Data Studio Integration.
create user DBTRAINING identified by password; grant create session,alter session,alter user,create database link,create materialized view,create procedure,create public synonym,create table,create view,create type, create any index,unlimited tablespace to DBTRAINING;
